This pancake die works in Potter USA’s Tortolita and Rincon hydraulic presses, as well as with any press with a wide enough working surface. If you’re using it with the Tortolita press, you will need a minimum of 4 aluminum spacers.

Tips for Trimming: After cutting the blank, use a jeweler’s saw to remove the tab connecting the two designs. If needed, use the metal you remove after cutting the blank as a guide to trace the design onto the tab as a guideline for sawing.

Use this pancake die to cut two strips of metal (connected by a short tab that is easily removed with saw or shear). These strips, when soldered and formed round, create a pair of telescoping rings. Use the two rings as a lid and container for a poison ring, small container pendant, or just a teeny tiny box. Design: 2" x 1" Die: 6-1/2" x 3-3/8" Longer strip measures: 51mm long x 6mm wide and creates a 17mm (OD) diameter ring. Shorter strip measures: 44mm x 6mm wide and creates a 15mm (OD) diameter ring.. THIS SET IS INTENDED FOR USE WITH 20 GAUGE FULLY HARD Sheet if you want to make a fitted lid and container. If you use a different gauge the parts will not fit as well together. If your metal is not full hard it may become stuck in the die. If you would like to purchase a circle pancake die that fits well with these two rings, the 3/4” diameter and 5/8" diameter circles work well. If you would like to purchase a matching ring blank die, there are many that would work, but PD R16o works perfectly.
