When product arrives, you will need to fill it with about 2 gallons of hydraulic OIL (viscocity of ISO 32 (SAE 10WT), which is available at automotive stores. It is illegal to ship oil in the US Postal Service, so it must be shipped empty. We test it at our shop first and then empty the oil out of the pump before shipping.

This is 110 volt system and runs at 3,000 psi maximum.

LOVE the Press!!!

I purchased Potters manual press a few years ago to use mostly for cutting out shapes for enameling. But, when I started working with texturing and the silhouette die's, the time to pump the jack, etc. was too much work. I got a Purple Electric press. It is BEAUTIFUL and it takes seconds to cut with shearing dies and textures. It is a dream to work with. The motor is very quiet and truly the most noise is made when you press out a pancake die when the metal cuts it makes a loud pop noise. Very easy to put together and I have mine on a 28"x18" Seville rolling cart from Sams. I would like 6"more room, but this works fine. I love working with Kevin at Potters. He makes sure you are happy with everything. If you are thinking about going electric, I can absolutely assure you that this is the way to go. It is well worth the money because of the precious time it will save you as apposed to a manual press.
Small suggestion: get the 8"x8" platens, If you use the bracelet and large shearing dies,

Question

Pam, 10/6/2015
Hi - how much does this weigh after the oil is added?
This press frame weighs 65 lbs, the cylinder weighs 30 lbs, and the pump weighs 60-65 lbs once the oil is added. This totals to 155-160 lbs.

What are the measurements on these? Do they have an 8 in opening?

Also, do you have any purple ones left?

Thanks,

Pam
The press measures 24" high, 18" wide, and 8" inches deep. The opening in the frame once the cylinder is installed is 7" tall. We currently are carrying purple presses but stock is limited.

Hello Mr. Potter,
I live in Germany, so shipping from the US is expensive. Do you also sell the frame only and how much is it inclusive shipping?
And is the space between the platens big enough to work with the bracelet former kit? On the foto it looks quite short.
Thank you very much for information, with kind regards,
Beate Friling

Would this press be good for making Damascus?
No. I have a large forging press that is good for that. It is not available on our website yet.

Can you hold pressure at top position, and if so what psi does it press at? Thanks
You can hold pressure at top position, it will hold at 2500 PSI (give or take). Expect some bleed down over time, it\'s difficult to maintain a constant pressure with the motor turned off.

Hi Kevin,
I read that your standard presses can be converted to electric. I purchased the Bolt Together press a few years ago, could those be converted? I LOVE my press, but the cranking gets really old.
Thanks,
Virginia
I\'m sorry. The bolt together is not possible to convert to electric.

Is this press considered to be a "large" press?
Yes, the press frame for the Electric Hydraulic Press is the same as the frame for our Standard Press.

Hello,
Is this press rigid enough and does it have enough tonnage to mark annealed tool steel with various stamp dies?

Thanks in advance.
Whether or not it will stamp annealed tool steel depends completely on the size of the stamp. If you are stamping a maker\'s mark on a knife blade, then it will work just fine. If you are trying to coin something the size of a quarter, it will not have enough pressure to do the task. We do make presses that will create working steel dies, we make them up to 200 tons.

Will I need the large platters to use the bracelet pancake cutters?
You do not need extended platens if you have a standard (large) press. They were created for the medium press, but can be used as spacers in the large press.
